Single Teeth Implants, Before and After

case library

IMPLANTS:

Dental Implants are substitutes or replacements for tooth roots. State-of-the-art technology allows a crown to be attached to the implant providing replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. They can also increase your comfort by eliminating loose fitting complete and partial dentures and acts to stop the deterioration in the jawbone, which occurs after natural teeth, are lost.

Single missing Tooth

Case 1:

This man is missing his left central incisor. He lost the tooth because it was fractured during an accident.  The area has lost some bone width because of the trauma.

The implant was placed and a graft was performed at the same surgical session. Here is the implant exposed with the shape of the crown established by the use of a temporary tooth.

The dental laboratory made an abutment which was secured to the implant by a screw. The crown will fit over the laboratory prepared abutment.

The final crown shows reconstruction of the missing central incisor.

Case 2

This patient is missing a front tooth and does not want to have the adjacent teeth altered. So a single implant is recommended.

After the implant was placed into the jaw bone, and allowed to heal for a few month a temporary tooth is placed to sculpture the gums mimicking the natural looks of the front teeth.

Once the gums are ready, a final mold is taken and the crown is completed in a laboratory. Careful step are taken to maximized the esthetic outcome.

The crown and custom made post are fabricated and ready to be placed in the mouth

The final crown is placed over the implant with cement restoring form and color leaving the adjacent teeth untouched.

Case 3 - Replacement of a single missing mandibular incisor

This patient required orthodontics to align the teeth and to make space for an implant

After space was created the wire was removed and the implant was placed. A graft was placed to widen the thin bone. The orthodontic wire was then replaced to maintain the tooth space until a temporary tooth could be placed.

After four months an impression was made and an abutment prepared for the final crown.

The final crown restores the patient and allows for a natural appearing replacement for the missing tooth.

Case 4 - Treatment of a significant bone defect for replacement of a single upper central incisor

This young lady lost her tooth because of trauma, with loss of a significant amount of bone. She requires reconstruction of both the height and width of the bone in the missing tooth site.

A bone graft was removed from her chin, trimmed, and secured to the missing tooth site using small titanium screws. This graft restored the height and width of the bone defect.

After the bone graft healed an implant was placed and restored with a single crown.

The crown restored both esthetics and function for this patient

The final reconstruction was well accepted by the patient and family.

Case 5

A young patient present with several missing permanent teeth and the desire to have something fixed that will not come out. Bridges are not the best choice, so implants are going to be placed to replace the natural missing teeth.

Braces were used to align the remaining natural teeth and also to make space for the implants, creating a more esthetic outcome. The position of the implants is key for success.

The implants are place in one visit using extreme care to position them in the most ideal place.

A mold is taken of the implants and natural teeth. This mold will use by the laboratory to fabricate a custom-made post that will received the final crowns. Attention to details, shape and color are our goals.

The upper posts were placed over the implants. In this case, the space was favorable, so individual crowns that will be cemented were chosen.

The lower posts were placed over the implants. In this case, the space was not favorable for individual crowns, so a fixed-porcelain bridge was chosen.

The final upper crowns and lower bridge were cemented. With the help of dental implants, orthodontics and great communication among the team, we were able to reconstruct this smile !
